To Hip-Hop

To Hip-Hop:

My girl Hip-Hop I found when I wasn’t listening.

But here flow caught my eye so I had to pay attention.

flow  with conviction had to take  another listen.

Had me on her track before the beat could even drop.

Now we Hip-Hop ing along and I hope we don’t stop.

You spin thoughts of a perfect melody

you have raw feeling which is the cornerstone of Hip-Hop

what truly attracts me is your free-style

I smile similes, because I like your ass

your movements and patterns are like music to my ears,

noteworthy of taking, taking blank stares

metaphorically capturing, that feeling

that feeling when you first heard hip hop,

neo soul rhythm and blues

knowing that this is what I metaphor (met-her-for)

sparking a desire and passion to truly understand hip hop and its entirety

not rap and its mainstream appeal; but that real own to earth Hip-Hop.

“So what’s the difference between Rap and Hip-Hop? It’s simple. It’s like saying you love somebody and being in love with somebody, Rap is only a word.” (Brown Sugar)

I don’t want this to ever become a (w)rap. I want Hip-Hop in my life forever.
